In today’s letter, we’ll take a look at what bags I’m geeking on right now, we’ll check out some of my favorite brands, premium options for those who want to invest in something more luxurious, and budget friendly bags that are perfect for the office and city exploration.

Bags are a funny thing. They’re multi-purpose but different styles are better for specific moments in life. As I got older I started understanding the importance of having a good rotation of bags; I have options for work and everyday living, I got my grocery bags, different options for traveling, and that one off bag that’s ready for the rain.

Today’s list of recommendations touches upon all of these categories and some. Since bags are such a personal item, I figured it would be best to showcase a lot of styles from different brands just to get ideas flowing.

F/CE

This Japanese brand is great for those looking for more technical focused bag. Think ripstop and other water-repellent fabrics that come with a lot of storage and hidden compartments.

What I like about F/CE is the price and their vast selection that—I wrote about them in a past letter where I got a chance to really deep dive into the brand and their bags are some of their strongest products.

With a brand like F/CE you really have to take the time and explore what they offer. There are a lot of hidden details, sizes, material variety, styles, and good quality hardware to choose from. I do believe that the price they set these bags at reflects the quality that you get in return—it’s one of those things that is noticable the moment you see these in person. They’re great.

HOBO

I know, they have a very interesting name but the stuff is too good to ignore. It’s one of those IYKYK brands. Out of Japan, Hobo has been specializing in bags for a long time now, and they’ve even dabbled in some great footwear, but that’s not why we’re here.

The only place that I know you can get Hobo in North America is at Haven, but the stock is running low. If you’re not afraid of doing some international shipping then Coverchord will be a great place to get some of their stuff right now. I’m personally really feeling their Azuma Shoulder Bag in either pig skin leather or the nylon version which is a bit cheaper.

The bags are big, which I like a lot. Obviously pig skin leather is the obvious choice here, and for under $250 you get a bag of high quality that you’ll actually enjoy.

Now this clean up is for those that seriously need it. If you’re someone that keeps their closet in check on a regular basis, I’m jealous.

The only way to really clean out your closet is by going in and taking everything out. And I mean everything. You don’t know what you’ve put away where, and I’m willing to bet you'll end up stumbling across an item tucked away in a corner that you’ve always enjoyed but ended up forgetting about.

This is also a good time to finally say goodbye to the clothes that have created intricate dust patterns at the bottom of your closet, and to reorganize the stuff that you love to wear right now.

I’d often go into my closet, look through stuff, think to myself that I don’t have anything to wear, and then come out with an outfit I’m not even that excited about. It didn’t help that the weather sucked for what felt like an eternity, but now I’m a week out from what seems like the warmth, and I’m scrambling to figure out what I even want to wear.

My usual seasonal shift consists of rotating my winter clothes with my spring ones, but this time I realized that keeping both in my view when trying to get dressed was creating this overwhelming vibe. The clothes I wasn’t excited about were directly next to clothes I did like, or I thought I did. I don’t know anymore. I’ve reached the point where there’s nothing left to do but to finally force myself to say goodbye to the clothes that have been collecting dust in my closet.

During this cleanse I found a few personal items that I had completely forgotten about that I’m hyped to bringing back to my rotation. My wardrobe did take a hit though; I am discarding about 80% of my stuff. Seems excessive, but a lot of the clothes did get their fair share of usage over the years. I’m just ready to usher in a new style this summer, and the unused stuff had become mind clutter.

I feel as though my personal style was stuck a little bit as of late. The weather didn’t help, but there was a lack of vision and excitement when it came to adding new pieces to my wardrobe. Of course there are exceptions, but it’s been daunting to shop for myself, and I think that’s because I was unsure of what I actually wanted.

If you’re feeling that your current wardrobe feels like it lacks excitement and that adding new clothes isn’t solving your issue, then getting rid of the clothes you don’t actually enjoy wearing is going to be a better answer to many of your style problems.

It’s time to let go and give those clothes away.

For me personally, a lot of my clothes end up collecting dust because even though I’ve come to terms I’m never going to wear them I’ll never be able to sell them for what I got them for. So, I just keep it in case there is a chance that I might wear it again, but that time never comes. Coming to terms that you might not recoup the money you spent opens up endless possibility of finding your sense of style. It forces you to say goodbye to things, and thus opening up space for new ideas to come through. Plus, I like to think that a little bit of something beats a whole lot of nothing.

Once you come to terms that letting go is good, that’s where the real style rehabilitation starts to take form. Of course you can sell your stuff, but that takes a lot of effort sometimes, and in those moments you’re better off keeping that item for yourself. If you have clothes like that, then I suggest trying out the “Give It To Your Homies” approach. Get your friends to come over and go through your closet. There’s no better feeling than giving a loved one an item of clothing they seem genuinely excited about. It’s a win-win

Ok. Let’s recap. You’ve finally pulled through on a day that was dedicated for chillin’ and you cleaned out your closet. You went in and removed everything. Create a “definitely will wear”, and “this has to go” piles and start organizing—if things can fit in between the maybe I’ll wear this, maybe I won’t, then create a third pile. After you’ve finished you will go through it again and reorganize it into the first two piles. Really ask yourself if you’re going to wear this item, or is it time to let it go to make space for new ideas.

If you’re like me you might be left with a pretty empty closet after you’ve finished, and that’s totally ok! Now, this is where the fun begins. There’s going to be a period where you’re going to be creating outfits with little options, but during this time is where you get to clearly see what you actually want to wear.

For me it starts with some new denim. Although I have multiple pairs of jeans I wear regularly, this clean up has led me to realize that I’m lacking a nice pair of light wash denim in my rotation.

I’ve looked around at brands like Auralee and Sunflower, which has giving me plenty of ideas of what my next light wash jean would look like, but I think I’m going to need to do some further research. You can never go wrong with a pair of Levi’s 501s, but I think I’m leaning towards avoiding shopping online for this one. More updates on this later.

My button ups also needs a desperate refresh because I left myself with only 2 options to wear and that’s not going to cut it. This Niceness button up seems to have everything I want; slim pointed collar, lightweight flowiness with amazing details throughout, and finished in a nice baby blue that I can’t take my eyes off.

It reminds me of this Tencel shirt from Wythe that I love a lot. It’s made using a non-toxic to skin fabric that’s more environmentally friendly than rayon. It also looks and feels much better on the body—the fit is perfect in my opinion.

The Wythe Tencel shirt is insanely breathable and you can wear it for much longer without having to wash it—thanks to the non-microbial properties of the Tencel fabric, odor doesn’t stick to it as quickly as other natural fibers.

Might just pick up a few of these for the summer, as Wythe has a huge selection available on their site right now.

They also have a variety of 100% cotton shirts that come with pearl snaps for those who want that full natural fiber experience. Either way, definitely recommend picking up a few. They make for great lounge shirts, vacations, dinners, casual weekends, whatever.

Stussy came through at the right moment with a new drop that has a bunch of shirts that aren’t going to destroy my wallet. I like their Oxfords, but I’d rather go with a used Polo; the colors are simply better and you can’t beat the price—a merely 2 minute search gave me this yellow Polo Oxford for only $30.

I did secure some stuff though. The Garment Dyed tee in the soft yellow couldn’t have been added to my cart fast enough. Best midweight fitting tee I have right now. Love running these through the wash and dryer—the ones I have now have become some of the softest tees I own. I also got the Matthew Shirt in lavender. The model styling was a bit ehh to me, but I have high hopes. Will report back on this soon.

There’s still a lot of work left to do to make sure my closet is looking proper this summer, but this is a good start. It’s been a few days and I already feel as though I have forgotten about what clothes I even put away. All I know is I have a clear view of clothes I actually enjoy wearing, which opens up my mind more when I try to style new things together.

I’m looking to sell everything I’ve retired at insanely cheap prices—within reason, of course. I was thinking of having a studio sale, so if you’re in Montreal in the next few weeks then keep your eyes peeled for more information on that— alternatively I’ve been thinking about selling this stuff online, maybe doing it through my side project Teste, which is an extension of my studio that I’ve been sort of keeping quiet, until recently.

A lot of moving parts in the background these last few years but maybe it’s finally time to come outside again.

THE L.L.BEAN JAPAN COLLECTION

L.L.Bean dropped an exclusive Japan Edition collection in America last week and everyone went bonkers over it. Sold out quickly as you can image, but there’s still a way for us to secure some of the items online.

I’m not going to lie though, it’s going to take a little bit of work.

Although the collection flew off the shelves, there’s still a chance to buy it over at Rakuten here. You’ll have to use a proxy service to place your order though—annoying, I know, but those who are willing to put some effort in acquiring their clothes will be rewarded with stuff they enjoy wearing.

LADY WHITE + KAPTAIN SUNSHINE

When two brands that you love come together on a collection, you have no choice but to sit and listen. That’s how I feel about this latest collab with Lady White and Kaptain Sunshine.

In today’s letter I’m taking you shopping with me for some new shoes, collaborations that deserve our attention, exclusive release info for the upcoming Hartcopy Adidas BW Army, returning to the classics, and ending the loafer discourse once and for all.

CONVERSE + NOAH

Starting spring with bright colors and fun patterns; Converse and Noah just dropped a pair of Chuck 70s that is having the menswear bros foaming at the mouth—I get it though, they’re good and in line with the general interest in menswear right now.

I ended up grabbing a pair of the patchwork highs, which I do like a lot, but now I’m thinking I’ve made a mistake because the plaid lows are infinitely better. Oh well, it’s not the end of the world, but I wouldn’t recommend making the same mistake I did.

These are kind of available all over the place, so if you’re not finding your size make sure to check out a store that you know carries Converse.

GOING BACK TO THE CLASSICS

It feels like this year is a good time to dust off models we used to rock years ago. Whether that’s classics from Converse, or even the trusted Vans Authentics are all in play this year.

Although the New Balance 475 came around just a few years ago, it’s still reminiscent of the staple New Balance models that would reign supreme over menswear years prior.

I originally slept on the Auralee 475’s and I regret that deeply, but with the upcoming JJJJound 475 collaboration, I’m starting to feel alive again.

As some of you may already know, I’m big on all black shoes, but the yellows are calling my name. I can’t help it—I got pants in that exact shade of green as styled above, and that’s all the convincing I need to go with that colorway.

A lot of people know Joy Crookes as a singer-songwriter that makes incredible tunes. She’s also very obsessed with Arsenal, cooks absolutely insane meals that I’ve had the pleasure of tasting, gets fits off consistently, but most importantly, she’s just an absolutely amazing person to be around.

Joy just released her second album, Juniper. It’s awesome and you should listen to it if you haven’t already. I am still ripping through her first album, Skin, on a regular basis though — When You Were Mine and Trouble are absolute classics.

Stussy Livin’ GENERAL STORE started in 2011 as a Japan-exclusive concept store that focused on making objects for the house—they also had a little bit of clothing too, mostly basics and some footwear.

The lifestyle label did come to America a few times through exclusive pop-ups on the west coast, but Livin’ GENERAL STORE had gained such a strong cult following back home that Stussy Japan just ended up focusing on this region.

There’s definitely a strong culture around collecting objects from your favorite brands—I mean, look at Supreme—but Stussy went even further with this idea. They were making lifestyle lookbooks that would set the stage for a specific type of person while filling these spaces with Stussy branded objects.

They were making everything from shampoo to furniture and everything in between. For some stuff the branding was as expected, while the more premium collaborations remained lowkey with subtle branding—you wouldn’t be able to tell if it was Stussy unless you really looked at it up close, and that’s something that made this stuff work.

The label was only around for about 7 years before quietly stopping operations, but during that time they ended up making a lot of cool stuff.

Is Stussy teasing a return to lifestyle through their recent ‘S’ strainer? Probably not, but it would be fun to see them tap into that world a little bit more—we obviously come back for the clothes, but who wouldn’t own a little Stussy object in their house if it was actually good?

Today’s letter is overflowing with recommendations; upcoming releases on my radar, how I might be back on wearing Vans again, a brand making my favorite bags right now, a new tailoring collection for those who just finished the newest series on JFK Jr, and other great recommendations as usual.

AM I BACK ON VANS?

I’ll be honest, I haven’t worn a pair of Vans in a while. Not for any specific reason except just needing a personal break from a classic in footwear—overexposure and just not wanting to look like everyone else was definitely at play. So, I took a break.

I did however just receive a gift from HAVEN and OTW by Vans; a pair of their Authentic 44s, which has reigninted my lost love for Vans. Now, this isn’t a promo post or anything like that, I was just really surprised by the premium quality that these Authentic’s had.

Crafted using premium nubuck leather with a hint of hairy suede wraps the toe box that feels insanely smooth on foot. All of that is sitting on an extremely comfortable leather insole that’s wrapped around with a Vibram outsole—a level of comfort that feels different from Vans, and that’s exciting.

MY FAVORITE BAGS

At this point I own four different bags from Colin Meredith, and I’ll probably continue to acquire more. Colin continues to elevate his bag designs season after season, giving me no chance to hide my wallet.

His new SS26 collection just hit his site, featuring The Bubble Roll bag that I couldn’t say no to.

I got the black but it also comes in plaid and red wax cotton finish. The material is sturdy and definitely designed with durability in mind. The construction continues to be really great, something that I’ve come to expect across any of Colin’s products.

The bag itself is pretty big. You can roll the opening on itself and lock it with the strap around it. There is a snap button at the top if you choose to keep it unrolled for even more storage though. This thing has a lot of space, with extra pockets, and compartments large enough for that extra large water bottle.

It’s different and nothing like I own right now, and it’s versatility will allow me to use this as a daily and on those outdoor adventures as needed.

THE MEN ARE GETTING DRESSED AGAIN

Many fashion bros who have just finished watching the newest JFK Jr. series are now looking to shift their style into the more dressed up territory; flowy slacks, nice quality button-downs, or a sharp blazer that you can throw over top that perfectly cooked vintage tee you spent too much money on.

The men are down to get dressed again, and I love to see it. For many of us who aren’t dressing like that everyday, we will need these options available when the inevitable invitation to a formal event with your name on it hits the inbox.

The great guys behind Ecole de Pensee just dropped part 2 of their SS26 collection that’s filled with relaxed tailoring and loose fits throughout. Whether you’re getting dressed in classic tailoring, or just want a pair of nice trousers to wear on vacation, Ecole will have exactly what you need.

If you’re ever in Montreal I highly recommend stopping by their flagship store to experience the clothing in-person. They were there for me when I needed a full suit for a wedding, and I ended up looking and feeling great. Awesome experience and even better clothing.

PENNON AQUILINE DERBY

Acquiring a new derby has been long overdue. I have been rocking the same leather shoes for years, so I think it’s finally time to retire those and get something fresh.

Pennon is a footwear brand out of South Korea that I have been following since they first started—between you and me, I was the first person to talk about them. It’s awesome to see how far they’ve come since then, continuing to elevate and focus on creating great quality footwear that’s priced well.

I wanted something classic, well made, and that didn’t cost too much—Pennon’s Aquiline Derby has checked all of those boxes for me. Now, I haven’t properly wore them yet, but they are pretty comfortable on first try. Some wearing in is needed though. I got a size 10 US and I’ll say that I would have benefited by sizing up by .5.

The black box calf leather is going to break naturally, so I’m not worried about the sizing too much. The Vibram outsole is finished with resistant grip, which makes these street-ready out of the box—something that a lot of dress shoes don’t have. One less thing I have to worry about.

JUST WHEN I THOUGHT I WAS OUT

Supreme x MM6 Maison Margiela is dropping later today, and I haven’t seen a single “supreme fell off” hater in sight. Life is good! Listen, I get it, this isn’t for everyone and that’s totally ok. I myself will remain focused ahead of today’s drop on two items from this collection.

A box logo feels satirical right now, and that maybe true, but it’s still fun and in today’s world I need more of that in fashion. It’s as simple as that. Plus, the all white dipped skateboard I got from the last Supreme x Margiela collab needs friends.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THEY GOT ME

I was perusing the rare 25% off sale over at Neighbour when I got hit with a bunch of things I suddenly wanted. I’m trying my best to say no, so instead I’m going to put you on in hopes of you taking my size.

I don’t really need boots right now, but I do love the shape of these Chukka Boots from Our Legacy—they are nice and simple, that hint of the natural leather outline is calling my name. It’s currently on sale for a very good deal. Don’t sleep.

Camiel Fortgens is one of my personal favorite obsessions so I naturally freaked when I saw this Fleece Anorak on sale.

This Lamb Leather Blouson from Auralee is going to be absolutely exceptional but also detrimental to my retirement fund.

Two Double RL hats came across my desk that I think you should know about. Very straightforward stuff, but could make for a nice little addition to a basic white tee + jeans outfit—the corduroy one has to be the favorite.

Listen, I think this might be Paratodo’s strongest collection to date and it’s one that we shouldn’t be sleeping on—for the knowers, there is a new version of the Osage pant that will be dropping which a lot of us are going to be excited about. That style flew off the shelves when it dropped last year, and I’m sure this one will not be any different.

To some, this might be a stark realization that you need to re-up on some everyday basics as we move towards spring. This is a great opportunity to level up your style by going with options that are above brands like Buck Mason, Uniqlo, and Madewell—not to direct shots at anyone but in the menswear zeitgeist these are the brands I hear of often, and honestly, I’m tired of it.

The way I approach getting my wardrobe ready for spring is by re-upping on some good quality basics that will serve as the foundation to the stuff that I’ll acquire throughout the rest of the season. These might not be necessarily the clothes you might be going out a lot in, but having a solid foundation of everyday basics sets you up for success later—I wrote about this topic in a past letter which you should read if you’re going through your own wardrobe overhaul right now. There’s some wisdom that will definitely help you.

I’m at home right now wearing a slub cotton tee from Warehouse, a pair of sweatpants from [Redacted], and socks from Kapital. It’s nothing crazy but I’m extremely comfortable, and I still look good.

Now there’s levels to this comfort game. Everything I’m rocking is simple, yet the elevated quality makes me feel much more put together. It’s a feeling I wouldn’t achieve if I was wearing a tee from Hanes and some Uniqlo sweatpants for example. It’s just not in the same league.

Think of this way; yeah, I spent a bit more on higher quality but these items allow me to quickly jump outside to run an errand without changing. If I was wearing the Hanes/Uniqlo combo though, I would most likely change before running that same errand—the higher quality just looks better on body, where the cheaper alternatives end up looking sloppy.

In today’s letter I’m going to share what brands I keep in my back pocket when re-upping on basics like; t-shirts, thermals, and sweats. Where to buy Made in America basics that are still affordable, and brands that nobody seems to be talking about online that are making great everyday basics.

BURGUS PLUS

Here at SNL our readers pride themselves in buying into brands that not a lot of people know about. It’s the SNL difference. These brands are quietly making bangers, but because a lot of the online discourse around menswear is ran by tourists, these great brands end up slipping through the cracks.

Burgus Plus is one of those brands that should be getting way more love online but doesn’t for whatever reason, so let’s change that. What originally started as a brand with a heavy focus on denim, has evolved to offer an array of basics that are rooted in vintage styles.

A lot of good stuff that’s priced well, plus it’s slightly more elevated than just your regular basics. Sure, you can get your normal crewneck, but if you are up to it they offer styles with double pockets that give a little bit more edge to that everyday classic.

THE REAL MCCOY’S

Fans of the true 50s/60s fit will feel right at home with The Real McCoy’s. I don’t think I have to explain their quality, but if you didn’t know, it’s absolutely insane. This is a brand that offers basics for people who want to just buy something once and have it for a few years without having to worry about replacing stuff.

They have a huge selection that’s influenced by vintage American sportswear. Yes, you’re going to spend a little more here but it will be levels above anything else that you have in your wardrobe.

IT’S A GOOD DAY TO BE A FASHION ENTHUSIAST

We’ve been blessed with teasers of the upcoming Paratodo collection that is supposed to land next week—not sure if I’m supposed to leak that info but oh well, that’s just the benefit of being a SNLetter subscriber.

Perfect hits of color and texture through elite fabric sourcing is what makes Paratodo special. I still think that they are extremely underrated and deserve even more love than they already have, but I guess that’s not a bad thing because it allows us to actually have a chance to buy their stuff before it sells out.

Anyway, excited for this drop, specifically the new colorway of the Osage pant—shown in the bottom right above—that seems to sell out instantly in the past. You’ve been warned.

ONE OF A KIND OUTERWEAR

The HAVEN Spectre jacket continues to be my go-to rain jacket. It has everything I need; great protection from the rain, good amount of pockets, amazing fit, and a hood that looks good on and off my head.

But now HAVEN is back with a new drop later today that takes the Spectre to a whole new level. They’ve tapped into hand-dying GORE-TEX shell fabrics to create a very limited run of their Spectre jackets in two new colors—I really don’t need another one, but that rust colorway is calling my name.

Because these jackets were individually hand-dyed at their studio over several days, no jacket will be the same, and will only be available in extremely limited quantities—I’m hearing they only have 10 in each colorway.

Dropping on the Haven website March 6th, 1 PM EST.

BODY OF WORK + MEPHISTO

One of my favorite collaborative duos is back right in time for spring. I won’t lie, I slept on their last brown colorway because I had just purchased a pair of the Mephisto Match in a cracked leather, but it still made me extremely sad that I missed out on the brown suede.

Body of Work’s newest collaboration is coming in two new colors that might be even better than the last.

No release date yet, but Lost & Found has already started teasing that the release is coming soon, so I’m expecting a release by next Friday. This is just a guess though.

All is left is trying to decide if I want the grey or the black colorway—that suede is going to age so nicely, and the comfort of the Match is unbeatable.

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER SWEATPANT

Came across this pleated sweatpant from Rotol’s SS26 collection that caught my attention that I wanted to share with you. Rotol is a Japan-based brand that is extremely underrated in my opinion.

The clothing is more on the baggier side in terms of fit, but the quality is there. Whenever I come across Rotol on the rack I’m always pleasantly surprised with what they do.

Pleats on sweats is interesting, and it’s definitely something I’m not against. Gives it a little bit of texture to a very classic item of clothing.

Rotol doesn’t ship outside of Japan, so you will need to use a proxy service like FromJapan!

GIVE ME THAT

I’ve been shopping for a new light jacket to add to my spring wardrobe, something that’s completely left field from what I have now.

This Lot. JG-20 Parka from Warehouse is based on USN sailor smocks that would be worn overtop uniforms during cleaning duties. Now it’s been reimagined in a garment dyed finish that looks unlike anything else I own. I want it. I love that color, but the hood is where my eyes land immediately.

SOMETHING WE CAN ALL ENJOY

Beams and Dr.Martens just dropped a new Lowell collab for the material patchwork enthusiasts. The all-black banger shines up close thanks to the various materials that all come together to make this project what it is—a quiet banger.

It’s not too flashy, but has enough character to stand above your traditional leather shoe. Plus, Docs are always priced really well so that’s always a plus. I’m also hyped that they decided to opt out of using the traditional yellow stitching on these.

PEOPLE SHOULDN’T BE SLEEPING ON THESE

Two hot ASICS collaborations came across my desk that I think people are sleeping on.

First one is the Issey Miyake Hyper Taping. It combines elements of wrestling and tracking footwear through the eyes of Issey design. Very lowkey, but I love them. Don’t wait for some annoying influencer to talk about these before it’s too late. They also come in a light grey.

Second is a trio of GEL-NIMBUS 10.1 in collaboration with Unaffected, a brand out of Korea. Also just a sleeper collection that I haven’t seen anyone talk about online, which I think is a good thing.

These are going to be great for everyday wear, the gym, or just general living.

AN EVERYDAY CLASSIC

Levi’s Vintage has been quietly dropping some archival heat. Their latest Bay Meadows crewneck is a direct remake from the 1940s in a traditional vintage sportswear fit using updated fabrics.

It’s also around $150, which is a very solid price.

Levi’s Vintage has it here with an additional black colorway, but the yellow is available over at Haven for slightly cheaper.

THINGS ARE GETTING OUT OF HAND

Listen, I love good clothes, and brands like A.Presse are making things at a level that I couldn’t even image, but the prices seem to be going up and I don’t know when it’s going to stop.

Alas, I still want to write about cool clothing and I think that these next pieces are worth drooling over.

Inspired by vintage military, A.Presse looks to elevate these styles by wrapping their customers in silk hemp blends or alpaca and merino shearling lining. Elite level stuff that comes at a price I don’t even want to think about.

Alas, the temperature is getting better, and I’ve picked up some new clothes that I’m excited to wear.

I FINALLY DID IT

Having an archive Stone Island item in the wardrobe was something I’ve wanted for a very long time. As a self-proclaimed fashion enthusiast, it would be wrong not to experience a garment from the Massimo Osti era.

An item like this isn’t going to be cheap, so I knew if I was going to be making a purchase this big, it had to fit me perfectly. During my last trip to Paris I stopped by Metallic Certain, a shop that specializes in archival Stone Island, C.P. Company and other adjacent brands, where I ended up finding this jacket:

It’s a Stone Island Raso Gommato from the early 90s—I believe it’s from AW92, but I’m not entirely certain, so I’ll have to confirm.

They just don’t make stuff like this anymore is a phrase that has become pretty common to use these days, but I think that’s very true with this particular jacket. The Raso Gommato comes with a built in duck down puffer that’s held up by a rope system. Additional rope details can be found at the cuff and the waist for additional fit adjusting.

What makes older Stone Island so appealing are fabrics, obviously, but most of the jackets in this era tend to have multiple ways to style them on the go. For this one you’re free to rock both jackets at the same time, but can remove and wear each individually if you want. Collar can be worn several different ways, which gives you an easy way to adjust your look on the fly.

The cotton outer shell takes on different shades of white under different lighting. It’s mostly white with hints of natural fading that sometimes come out in a more cream color—in the case above, the red sweater messed with the colors in my photo which gave the jacket an almost coffee like shade.

To be frank this purchase wasn’t cheap at all, but I believe that money comes and goes but swag is forever.

A SPECIAL PAIR OF LEVI’S

A few months ago I wrote about Engineered Jeans by Levi’s and how they were created to reclaim the attention of the youth in the early 2000s—give it a read if you haven’t already, it will bring you up to speed on the importance of the Engineered Levi’s and what it did to the culture around that time.

As I was writing this article I was actively trying to find a pair for myself. Because these jeans are unique to each other, it took a while to find the exact wash and fit I wanted.

After extensive research I ended up taking a gamble and bought a pair off eBay, and they ended up fitting me perfectly.

VINTAGE FINDS WORTH GETTING EXCITED ABOUT

The real heat is found at estate sales. That’s all I’ll say on that matter for now.

One of my last best finds at one of these estate sales was a pair of San Antonio Shoemakers loafers in my size. They were $10. Probably the most comfortable loafers I’ve ever owned. It’s kind of insane. They are very lowkey, built well, and look great on foot.

Highly recommend doing some digging yourself to see if you can find vintage pairs on eBay. Doing a quick SAS search myself has revealed some very interesting results that are extremely cheap.

IS THIS THE NEW BEST FITTING HOODIE?

When I look at a hoodie I’m looking for a proper fit at the waist, comes with good hardware and a zipper that doesn’t bulge out, but most importantly, it has a hood that sits on your shoulders just right—I hate when hoods are too big.

Believe it or not, it’s pretty difficult to find a hoodie that has it all and doesn’t cost $500, but I think I just found one that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, is insanely comfortable, and fits just how I need it to.

18 EAST HAS MOTION

To me, 18 East has become the go-to brand when I need my menswear fix. I write about them a lot, but it’s hard not to when their clothes continue to slap. What makes me a fan is their approach to a more relaxed fit and how they continue to reference the right points in some of my favorite subcultures through the clothes they create.

That’s what keeps this brand relevant to me.

18 East just dropped part 1 of their Spring ‘26 collection and it’s filled with a bunch of bangers that you should look into.

Red continues to show momentum as it becomes one of the go-to colors in menswear right now. You see a decent amount of it in this drop as well. I feel like every brand is using red as a staple right now—it’s something that’s worth keeping an eye on.

Anyway, spring is finally around the corner and that means it’s time to expand your light jacket options; the Ale Blouson might have to come home with me—I love that waxed brown.

The Collan Zip is perfect. I’m willing to bet that the red will sell out quick, but at least there’s also a navy one that’s also a good option.

18 East makes some of the best relaxed fitting bottoms on the market. So naturally, my eyes are locked in on the Rossi Chino in walnut.

Last but not least, definitely check out their new blank t-shirt program. Comes in a three pack, loose fit with a nice reinforced rib collar.

OUR LEGACY WORK SHOP + TIMBERLAND

The new OL Work Shop + Timberland collab is dropping later today on the Our Legacy website. The collection is solid overall, I like the hat which is wrapped in sheepskin leather, tanned leather boots are a vibe, but my eyes are set on the Wharf Coat—although the Italian selvedge denim is looking pretty good as well.

MARC YOUR CALENDARS

This next one is for my fashion doc fanatics.

I love a good fashion documentary. I love Sofia Coppola and Marc Jacobs. And now we’re getting a documentary that combines the two of them, so needless to say, I’m beyond excited to watch Marc by Sofia when it drops later this March.

I think that their friendship is going to make for a great storytelling experience, and that’s what has me excited about this project.

UPGRADE YOUR LIFE

I recently wrote about the importance of leveling up your daily life by surrounding yourself with high frequency objects. You may have a wardrobe filled with prestige clothes, but none of them will reach their full potential that you’re trying to achieve unless you apply that same mentality to the objects in your home.

I just rearranged my entire house to restructure my vibe and to set my mind to a higher frequency of living. It’s done me wonders so far, but it’s still missing the details.

Although I’m surrounded by objects and things that all come together to create what I like to call the “S-tier living experience”, I’m still on the hunt for weird trinkets and objects that I can add to my collection—you know, stuff that makes your guests go woah, where did you get this?

Here are a few of the stores I shop at for those special house objects:

Galarie 21 just dropped a great selection of vintage bottle openers, that are stuck in my mind. Do I need a bottle opener for $80? Probably not, but how cool is this Sapporo one? Getting a stylish bottle opener may feel silly, but it’s these types of objects that end up enhancing life’s daily experiences in an effortless way.

Season after season we are flooded with comments from fashion bystanders online that Supreme has yet again, fallen off. Their latest collection is no different.

It’s interesting to see how much judgement Supreme gets with each new collection. Goes to show that the interest for the brand is very much alive, which is one of the more telling signs that they still remain culturally relevant today.

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, Supreme is still just as popular as it was because a lot of us are still talking about it. Sure, some collections are better than others, and that’s pretty normal, but at the end of the day, the online drops are selling out and their physical stores still gather large crowds of people that wrap around the block.

The negative comments you see online just noise that keeps Supreme at the center of discussion.

If you talk to any real head they will say Supreme still got it and that’s because it’s true. I mean, what other brand is dropping a box logo casket with leopard lining these days?

Supreme did it for their newest SS26 collection, and I loved it. Is it outrageous and completely unnecessary? For sure. But the fact is, Supreme still figured out a way to make a coffin with leopard lining, and I think that’s pretty cool.

and also insane.

The newest line of accessories from Spring/Summer 2026 were some of the first items I saw and they did not disappoint. Accessories is their strongest game and they need to keep pushing that bar to wilder territories. I think they did pretty well, I mean, they made an ATM and an entire gold bar. That’s actually crazy. Again, is it something that I would actually buy? Absolutely not, but there might be a chance I might get to see that ATM in the wild, which would be hilarious.

At this point I’m rooting for them to go even crazier with their accesories because, why not? I’m just here for the ride to see how far they can go with them. I’m waiting for a commercial plane to be wrapped in a giant red box logo. That would make for one sick promotional video.

I hate when people go “the entire collection is ass”. Bro, shut up. You’re just being a hater for absolutely no reason. Sure, some stuff is garbage, but what collection doesn’t have its share of bad apples?

Go through the collection with an open mind and see it for what it is—streetwear. It’s loud, it’s obnoxious at times, but the in between stuff still holds up and reminds us why Supreme is still one of the best. It’s also a fun way to channel back the youth with a quick little throwback.

Obviously Supreme isn’t for everyone, but at the same time it kind of is. A lot of us grew up with Supreme and went through that entire hypebeast cycle. We’re older now and our style may have matured in some ways, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we are no longer Supreme’s customer.

I look at Supreme as that casual brand that’s still a lot of fun to wear once in a while. They make clothing that’s fun to chill in.

Why would I chill at home in some overly expensive, hand-dyed in Japan hoodie that I spent an arm and a leg for, when I could rock something like the raglan sleeve logo hoodie from Supreme and be more comfortable?

Everyone lives a different life of style, and for some, that means that Supreme may not fit within those boundaries and that’s totally cool. For me, there’s decent opportunity to merge some items from this collection within my current wardrobe.

To keep it real with you; I’m not always going run a quick errand or go to the grocery store in full insert expensive brand that’s sourcing ethical fabrics from Japan here—I do enjoy mix and matching the elite garments with streetwear. You get a hit of luxury with a hint of playfulness. It’s fun, it’s young, and it’s a bit freeing when you mix the two.

I also just enjoy throwing on some Supreme once in a while because it brings me back to what I used to love when I was younger—that good streetwear. That’s what’s fun about getting dressed. Mix new obsessions with old ones, there are no rules. I don’t care if I’m in my 30s wearing Supreme. I’m confident enough to know that I can pull it off in a way that works.

But most importantly for me, Supreme is a great brand to lean on when it comes to identifying current style trends and what clothing items might be up next.

I recently spoke about the comeback of Cowichan sweaters, which I did feel slightly early about, but Supreme just confirmed my suspicions because they are dropping their own Cowichan sweater this season—The Ghostface references throughout this season are also great! I love the Scream series.

If you’re truly about #menswear, then you know the current significance of a simple knit. Every dude is trying to find that perfect little sweater that is going to take their fit to what they think is that next new level. Supreme seems to have a slight finger on the pulse with a couple of their own simple sweaters in variety of colors—not everyone is going to love the huge logo on the back of the Pilled sweater, but it’s actually not that annoying to me because there’s nothing on the front.

For fans of clothes with minimal to no branding can get their fix with the waffle sweater. I’m willing to bet this one is going to sell out quick when it drops. Items like this are often overlooked, but these are the ones that quietly end up selling out.

So what are my thoughts on the season? I noticed way more red clothing—it’s a color that has been going off in womenswear and has now infiltrated its way into menswear. The hooded raglan is an insane sleeper that people won’t even realize it until it’s gone. Patchwork hoodie is a must. The Quilted lined flannel is tough. This is absolutely hilarious.

But overall though, the new season has bangers that I’m going to buy, it has some weird stuff that I don’t get, and it’s got some ugly stuff that I don’t like. It’s exactly what Supreme has been for years now and that’s totally cool with me.

I always recommend coming back to a collection of this size a few times. Shift your perspective and see if any of your original opinions of the clothes have shifted.

For the haters exclaiming that Supreme fell off yet again, I’ll see you on Monday when they announce some insane unexpected collab that brings everyone back in.

I lost my wallet this week. The idea of having to go through the daunting process of replacing all of my important cards felt extremely annoying, but truthfully, I was more annoyed at the fact that I lost my Case File from Hender Scheme more than anything.

That was the best wallet I’ve ever had.

I luckily found it buried underneath a bunch of random stuff which made things exactly as I left them, but the damage was done because I was already shopping for a replacement wallet back at Hender Scheme.

A wallet is something that might not feel as important, but this daily item holds a lot of value to your overall vibe. Are you pulling up to the cash register with a really great look only to selfmog yourself by pulling out your velcro wallet? Or even worse, those minimalist metal card holders that everyone got on Amazon. Don’t be that guy.

A wallet is a detail worth elevating. Surrounding yourself with good quality objects will create a difference through the emotions they might generate when you use them. I don’t know how to explain it, but to experience a true s-tier object is something everyone needs to have at least once. Whatever it might mean to you, real luxury is a feeling, and you’ll know it when you see it.

I believe that we should treat our money with respect, and one way of doing so is by giving your money a proper home. It’s all a vibes thing, really.

Through personal experience I’ve noticed that a good wallet is one of those items that gets a consistent amount of compliments. When it does, I’m always excited to put people on to Hender Scheme. It’s just really good leather products.

It might seem silly to speak so highly of something simple like a wallet, but owning one you aren’t embarrassed to take out in public will make a huge difference.

If you’re actually willing to invest into something like this, then I recommend doing it properly by looking at what Hender Scheme has to offer. They are absolute experts with leather and it’s truly amazing to see how they can use it to continue to take everyday objects to a higher standard.

Aside from their exceptional overall quality and construction, these wallets transform to unique finishes and natural patina over time. They really become your own through age and wear, and that’s what makes it truly luxurious.

STOP SHOWING ME SOMETHING I CAN’T HAVE

Listen, if I’m suffering you’re suffering too. The latest Khakis + New Balance collaboration is great and I’d like to have it, but the release that’s limited to Japan and South Korea has other plans for me.

Oh well, I guess a lot of us are going to have to enjoy these from within the boundaries of our screens.

The current Paris list has grown a lot because I’ve been going back more, so I’ve had a proper chance to explore the city a little bit deeper to give you some proper recommendations on things like; where to shop for clothes, bookstores, my favorite restaurants, and places to drink and hangout at with friends.

In today’s letter I’m going to share what my favorite areas of the city to stay in when traveling, clothing stores, un-gatekeeping a list of my favorite restaurants, and bars.

You’ll be able to grab the Google Maps at the bottom of this post where you’ll be able to sort by category: shopping, eats & drinks, and bookstores.

First things first, Paris is pretty big and there are variety of zones you can stay in. I visit during Fashion Week, so I stay around Le Marais/3rd arrondissement for efficiency—a lot of showrooms and events happen here during the week.

While it’s a popular area that becomes absolutely bustling on the weekends, I personally wouldn’t recommend staying in the heart of this zone for the sake of your own serenity. Maybe in the off season, but not during peak traveling time. I’m someone who enjoys a little bit of peace and quiet after a busy day, and staying inside the belly of the beast doesn’t actually help me do that.

Of course we’re all different and if you want to be in the heart of the action, then by all means, you should do it!

The 9th is good but the 11th arrondissement is by far one of my favorite area to stay in right now. Depending how deep you are in the 11th, you’re only a very short walk from Le Marais, but it’s an overall much quieter area that’s filled with great bars and restaurants to enjoy. There’s a vibe in the air that makes you feel a little bit more like a local.

Things that you have to hit

I think that simply looking at the map and hitting the stuff that’s around you will yield great results, but there are suggestions on this list that I would prioritize:

Shopping

• Words, Sounds, Colors, and Shapes — Multi-brand retailer with a unique brand selection that’s worth a visit. They used to be called A Young Hiker but have swiftly changed the name. Not entirely sure why, but whatever. They have a cool selection of very unknown Japanese brands. Downstairs you’ll find a curated bookstore and gallery space called The Radical Media Archive.

THOM BROWNE + ASICS

I don’t think anybody expected for Thom Browne to cook up a collaboration with ASICS, but we’re here and I couldn’t be happier. This collaboration might feel simple but it’s very Thom, and that’s why it works.

Debuted during Thom Browne’s Fall ‘26 show, the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 gets reimagined through the eyes of Thom Browne in his typical color palette that we’re so familiar with.

There’s still some time before these drop, which gives us the opportunity to stack the necessary funds for when they do release on March 2nd.

Now, how much are they going to be? I’m not entirely sure. I heard whispers of being closer to $300 which is double of what the regular GEL-Kayano 14 goes for. Pretty on brand considering that this is going to be a more premium collaboration that needs to fit into the brands price point. Nevertheless, I’m excited.

J.CREW IS REIMAGINING THE ROLLNECK

The Rollneck sweater is a J.Crew staple. Every menswear bro in their early 30s that has a nice little job with a good circle of friends and his new found passion for 35mm film either has one or wants one. The girls love it too. It’s universal.

While you can get one pretty easily on their website right now, J.Crew is looking to step things up by continuing to innovate this wardrobe staple. To do so, J.Crew created The Rollneck Remix, a program that worked with 5 emerging designers to let their design ideas come to life through their own unique Rollnecks.

Featuring designs from Eckhaus Latta, Patrick Taylor, Tanner Fletcher, BUCI NYC, and Collina Strada. Some I know, some I don’t, but I think this program is already doing it’s job because I’m discovering and learning about new brands. Also, it’s fun to see that J.Crew isn’t afraid to give more creative control because we end up with something a little bit different—which we all need more of right now.

The Rollneck Remix is set to drop on the J.Crew website at 9 am EST, Friday 12th, 2026.

Oh, also what's crazy is that it seems as though J.Crew has quietly trademarked the word Rollneck. Isn’t that kind of wild? I’m not sure when that happened but they are definitely going all in on this one.

IS THIS THE PERFECT SWEATPANT? MAYBE

On October of last year I had returned from a trip to Japan where I had discovered what I believe are the perfect sweatpants. Obviously calling anything “perfect” is subjective, but they work for me exactly how I need them to. The fit is right, the cotton terry is incredibly soft to the touch, and the best part is they are below $100! It’s almost unheard of.

You’re going to be annoyed when I tell you that I’m gatekeeping this info for SNL subscribers though. I’m simply doing this because I don’t want to blow these up. I swear, nobody knows about these and I want to keep it that way, so we’re keeping it hush hush on the other side of the door.

Honestly, at this point it’s not even about the actual sport for me anymore, I’m watching it for the cultural point of view. Commercials, the halftime show, and the other mini-cultural moments in between tell a much more exciting story. Tapping into this helps me understand where we are at culturally and where we might be heading next. After reviewing what I saw last night though, I’m not entirely sure I’m liking where we're heading next.

Bad Bunny’s halftime show was important and needed, but what’s up with him wearing full Zara on stage? Don’t even get me started on the AI commercials themed around surveillance, drug loss, and gambling. Where are the classic beer and dodge truck commercials? What’s up with all of these low quality commercials that feel 10 years behind?

Now the thing is, I live in Canada, and although many would consider our media to be absolutely mid, maybe it’s better this way. The content over in the states is on some different sh*t right now, and I’m glad I am not exposed to these topics every single day.

Anyway, an uneasy feeling came over me when I was watching the Super Bowl, so I decided that I needed to watch something else to get my mind off the dark reality of the future.

I needed to do a complete 180 to bring me back up so I ended up watching a familiar documentary, Dior and I (2015). Although many of these fashion docs have their own essense of stress, there is something captivating about an in depth look at how brands and designers work within the fashion industry. The doc follows Raf’s first season at Dior, where he only had 8 weeks to create an entire haute couture collection. We get to see the emotions, the tense moments, and the ultimate reward of what it takes to execute something of this caliber.

Even though it was a documentary I’ve seen lots of times, it still remains exciting and inspiring. A great documentary you should watch it if you haven’t already, and if you have you should rewatch it anyway.

One of the inspirations I got from rewatching it was to write today’s letter about fashion documentaries that leave you creatively curious and excited. Although today’s list has been made a thousand times, mine is about how these documentaries had left me feeling creatively curious and excited in my own way, and maybe they will do that for you too.

NOTEBOOK ON CITIES AND CLOTHES (1998)

I naturally stumbled across Wim Wenders after Paris, Texas and Perfect Days. During a deep dive on Wenders’ work I found out that he was good friends with Yohji Yamamoto, and he had made his own documentary exploring Yohji’s design and life philosophy, Notebook on Cities and Clothes.

Exceptional doc filled with little moments that make you better understand Yohji as a designer and individual—even though you can argue that Yohji isn’t someone you can truly understand. This doc helps though.

One moment specifically that really inspired me was Yohji’s process for creating the signage for his store in Aoyama, Tokyo. I watched this before stumbling upon that same Yohji store on my last trip to Japan, so it was a very special getting to see the sign in person afterwards—if you’re in the area definitely recommend stopping by!

MARC JACOBS & LOUIS VUITTON (2007)

I feel like people are forgetting that Marc Jacobs is literally him. This documentary is a good reminder of that. Filmed by the iconic Loïc Prigent, who follows Marc at Louis Vuitton, which at the time was pretty difficult to get a camera behind closed doors of Louis. A great captured moment in time that leaves me inspired in my own way each time I watch this one.

THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ANDRÉ (2017)

A very important documentary that should be at the top of your list if you’re an aspiring fashion journalist or just enjoy fashion in general. André Leon Talley was the fashion editor, journalist, and the former creative director and editor of Vogue. He broke barriers, opened doors, and influenced an entire generation of fashion journalists that followed him.

His influence should be spoken about more, and watching this documentary is a good way we can continue to do so. The Gospel According To André goes through his childhood, and ultimately tells the story of how he became one of the most influential figures in the fashion world.

CELEBRATION (2007)

Can’t recommend this one enough. It’s crazy good. While this is a documentary, I would go even further and call it a drama. I don’t want to give away too much aside from expect extremely high tensions as you dive into Yves Saint-Laurent’s final show. It’s short but it has absolutely incredible story telling.

My friend put me on this one a while back, and the night of we tried to see if we could watch it we ended up finding a youtube link that someone had uploaded an hour before we searched. It felt weird for a second but if as though it was written for us to enjoy it in full HD before it was swiftly taken down. Watched it again recently through mubi though and it’s just as good if not better the second time around.

VERY RALPH (2019)

Do I even need to say anything about this one? Ralph Lauren is the GOAT. This is a documentary that deserves multiple watches as you will walk away with new aspirations, guaranteed. Plus, I think that there’s a definitive reignited interest around Ralph Lauren right now, so why not brush up and remind ourselves what one of the best is all about?

Being “good” at fashion or understanding the concept of how to get dressed is not about the clothes themselves, but rather a state of mind that allows you to effortlessly put clothes together that make you feel good.

Reaching that state can be done through researching brands, fabrics, understanding color, experimenting with different styles of clothing, and knowing how clothes should fit you. Once you get those down, it becomes much easier to put yourself in flow state that allows you to get dressed with minimal thinking. Outfits and clothing combinations just start jumping at you naturally just by looking at what is in your closet.

None of that is possible unless you keep your wardrobe organized. I won’t lie, my closet situation right now is not looking so good. Neglecting cleaning it has now caught up to me to the point where I’ve fallen out of that effortless flow state and have fallen into the “I have nothing to wear” state of mind. I know this is not true, so I’m going what I should have done a long time ago. I’m cleaning out my closet.

If you’re ever stuck in that feeling of having nothing to wear, the first thing you should do is evaluate the state of your closet. Is it organized or have you created a pile of the clothes you wear the most somewhere in your house that you refuse to acknowledge?

We’ve all been there. Long night out, you’re tired, maybe you had some fun with the homies and you’re a bit tipsy, so you end up throwing the clothes that night on the nearest furniture you could find. I’m not worried about hanging my expensive top in that moment. I’ll do that tomorrow.

Then tomorrow comes and you forgot that you have stuff to do and you don’t have time to actually hang the clothes from last night. Then you come back and the process repeats itself. After a few days you finally tell yourself that you need to clean that mess but the damage has been done.

Cleaning out your closet is a great way to reset your mind. You get to figure out what you want to wear again, rediscover old items that you’ve tucked away and forgotten about, maybe find a t-shirt that you lost a year ago, but also saying goodbye to items that should have been retired 2 seasons ago.

I’m starting my closet clean out with t-shirts. I have way too many of them, and I think it’s time to finally say goodbye to make space for new stuff in my closet. I’m decluttering.

That little pile of stuff you haven’t worn in a while is affecting how you look at your clothes. Get rid of the stuff you don’t wear anymore! Go through it and pick things you haven’t worn in years, give it a final look and ask yourself if you’re ever going to wear that again. If you don’t get an instant “woah” feeling or “I completely forgot I own this, it’s awesome” then you should get rid of it. Because anything in between “ehh” and “maybe” is only going to end up in some pile in your closet somewhere.

During my cleanup I pulled about 40 t-shirts, but I’m only planning to keep just about half of them. The rest either haven’t been worn in forever or they’re a little too cooked to wear. They need to go.

The tee’s I decided to keep have their own specific purpose or story that’s important to me. There’s tees that might not be the most insane quality but hold a sentimental value, there are tees that are perfect for those really hot days, and high-quality tees that are low maintenance.
