I’ve been trying to get Jonah on SNL for a minute now, so I’m really hyped we’ve finally come together on something — originally the item series was meant to be strictly for IG but I decided to share it through the newsletter because why not?
Jonah is a Japanese-Canadian singer-songwriter who makes great tunes that are just enjoyable to listen to. You may recognize him from the work he’s done with folks like BADBADNOTGOOD, Clairo, Mustafa, Charlotte Day Wilson and more. Most recently, he and his band went on to perform a 24-hour non-stop improvisational show to promote the upcoming album Jonah Yano & The Heavy Loop — which is crazy to think about since they actually didn’t stop playing music once during this monster performance, and they live-streamed the entire thing which you can rewatch here. I had to stop by, say what’s up, and show my support, but I only lasted like an hour at midnight before I started passing out, so I have no idea how they did what they did. Massive respect to everyone who was involved in turning this idea into reality.
Jonah’s third album, Jonah Yano & The Heavy Loop is out now and is filled with insanely groovy and fun tracks. I’ve personally been rinsing it since the moment it dropped and you should, too!
When Jonah isn’t working on music you might be able to catch him on the streets of Montreal rocking some great gear.
