GOOD COATS AND MORE FROM 18 EAST
The new Mainstays ‘25 collection is just around the corner, bringing in a bunch of great garments right in time for fall. By now you should realize how much I love 18 East, and you should too—the brand is just really great and if you haven’t had a chance to dabble yet, then the time is now.
You can check out the full lookbook for all the pieces here.
Dropping this Friday, October 17th at 11 am on the 18east.co website.
While everything is great as usual, the standouts for me are the button down shirts and the jeans. If you’re in the market for some nice relaxed denim then going with 18 East is going to be the best move you’ll make since subscribing to this newsletter. Trust me.
Before we move on, we do have to talk about the best piece in this collection, and that is the Belted Bridge Coat. Doubt that this one is going to sit for long, so don’t sleep when it drops later today!

SPEAKING OF SKATEBOARDING
This blog will always be rooted in skateboarding. Fashion in general has taken and will continue to take a lot of inspiration from skateboarding, but that’s a conversation for another day. Today I wanted to focus on the new collection from Village PM, which blends elements of hiking footwear to create a new line of skate shoes.
The new collection is already out on their website here. It introduces a bunch of new colorways, and most importantly, they are readily available in many sizes for a very good price point.
SOME LINKS AND STUFF
I’d like to start sharing more links with you. These links will be quick announcements, videos that I saw that week, or anything relevant to the fashion conversation. Just a good and simple way to keep up on what’s going on in the world of fashion:
Our Legacy tackles the afterhoods—a garment that needs to return, as I wrote about in a letter from January.
British musician and actor, Dave, joins Arco Maher to showcase his extensive Stone Island collection.
Marc Jacobs documentary at his time at Louis Vuitton. A must watch for any fashion enthusiast.
NN.07 announces collaboration with Fracap. Releasing October 23rd
Ostrya Equipment and Eden Power Corp are having a Warehouse Sale in Montreal, October 25th & 26th
Gap is set to drop a GapVintage hoodie collection, curated by Sean Wotherspoon on October 17th, 12PM ET.
NEW METALWOOD DROP
The second drop from Metalwood’s FW25 collection is dropping today. Lots of graphics, hats, belts, bags, but most importantly, a new re-up of my favorite pleated pants from them in a pinstripe finish.
If you’re in the market for some easy flowing, slightly baggy pants that don’t break the bank, then the pleated pinstripe joints should be the first option on your list.
With that being said, my eyes are also set on the jackets from this drop. Equipped with some nice deep pockets with a slight hint of leopard underneath the pockets—a nice little detail that you can sort of see in the image above on the black version of the jacket.
Anyway, great collection. Lot’s of good stuff for a really good price. Go support Metalwood so they can continue making cool stuff.
Drop 2 will be available on the Metalwood website at 11AM PST, Friday October 17th.

COZY KNITWEAR BUILT FOR THE OFFICE
It’s getting colder, so that means it’s time to level up your knitwear for the new season. I know a lot of you work in an office, which can already feel a bit dark on its own, so to brighten up the vibe I recommend adding a little bit of color to your life with a nice fresh knitwear piece that you’re actually excited to wear.
J. Press and Alex Mill have collaborated on a line of Shaggy Dog pieces that have been handcrafted in Scotland using Shetland wool. We’re talking extreme levels of softness for what I believe is a reasonable price—don’t skimp out on good quality knitwear, and buy something that you’ll actually look good in and enjoy wearing.
Available directly on the J. Press website here.
HANDCRAFTED FOOTWEAR FROM ENGLAND
Adsum taps into England made, Sanders, on a waxed suede leather derby. I like it a lot. I think product photos only tell half of the story in terms of what the shoe looks like on foot, so I would definitely recommend checking out the lookbook photos here.
They look extremely fresh. Goodyear welted with a Vibram sole, so you can expect top notch quality here. It’s suggested that you go with your regular US size for these!
Allegedly not a lot of these pairs were made, so I would act accordingly when these drop on the Adsum website today, October 17th, 11AM EST.
SPEAKING OF FOOTWEAR
This one is short and sweet. Dr. Martens Lowell 4 Eye had a lot of hype when it initially dropped. They sold out instantly but are now back in a fresh restock. Sizes seem to be disappearing already, but luckily I found a full size run over at Notre here.
DO YOU SEE THIS COAT?
Once in a while folks will ask you if you’re venturing into the fashion industry after looking at what you’re wearing, and when that happens you simply have to ask them if they are seeing the coat you’re wearing. When that does happen you want to be equipped with something unique, and the Bramble Parka by Story mfg. should do the trick.
Constructed out of handwoven cotton, the standout for me is the irregular stitching detailing that runs across this piece. Not everything needs to look precise, and sometimes having a little bit of uneven love is exactly what your wardrobe needs.
