What's in my shopping cart
Light outerwear, finding the perfect leather military trainers, a pair of pants I'll be purchasing immediately, and more
I love the summer just like anyone else, but I’m ready to start shifting into fall weather. It’s the best time to get dressed. In terms of getting fits off this season, summer started out pretty strong, but by the end of it I became exhausted of wearing the same thing because I’m prioritizing survival in the extreme heat.
Naturally I’ve been digging online to start brainstorming what vibes I’m trying to channel this fall. In today’s newsletter I’m going to give you a peek into what I have in my shopping cart currently, brands that have some amazing fall gear I’m excited about, a leather shoe I need immediately, why expensive socks are worth your money and some stuff in between.

TWO HEATERS FROM YMC
YMC has been a fun brand to watch recently. Earlier this year they appointed Sage Toda-Nation of Sage Nation, as Creative Director of the brand. Feels like he’s been busy at work as their recent releases feel dialed and much sharper. It’s just good stuff. Excited to see how YMC will continue to evolve.
The two items I have in my shopping cart right now from them are the Curtis Shirt, and Bonehead Jacket. The shirt is constructed using a Japanese sourced millwashed pinstripe cotton that has this really nice striped detailing that gives it a little bit of extra texture. It also comes in what I think is the ideal shirt length right now, cropped just below the waistline—not in that annoying way that we’ve been seeing on tiktok.
Bonehead Jacket in red is a bold choice for me, but I’ve been wearing more color recently and I’ve been loving it. Big buttons may be my favorite detail but I’m curious about the dual entry pockets at the front, which seem to be deep—an important detail to makes any jacket that much better.
ON THE HUNT FOR PANTS
I need some olive bottoms in a more technical style in my life. I realized that I don’t really have pants like this in my rotation currently, so I need to change that. Earth\Studies is probably one of my favorite stops to hit when looking for more technical garms that focus on performance. Right now I’m stuck between the MP-108 Field Pant or the MP-103 Utility Pant.
The large side pocket on the 108 is enough for me to buy these straight off the lot. I also prefer the fit of these more—they are slightly more roomy in the leg in comparison to the 103, which gives them a little bit more flowiness in the overall fit.
103 is solid too though, just not a typical fit I would go with but I’m not against exploring. The two deep pockets are solid also. These don’t have drawstrings at the leg opening for quick fit adjustments, which isn’t a big deal, but I do like that they have them in the 108 version.
I’m most likely going with the 108s…

WHY ARE SOCKS SO EXPENSIVE
Don’t get me started on the price of socks right now. I was rocking the Uniqlo joints for a long time in the past, but I have been slowly upgrading my sock game, and I hate to say that it’s definitely worth spending some money on good socks.
$35+ on a singular pair of them might seem crazy, but from my experience, it is absolutely worth your money. They are more comfortable and last way longer, which in the long run means I spend less money on them over time.
My favorite socks have to be from Kapital right now. Blue Button Shop has a huge selection of them, and they are located in Canada which makes my purchasing experience that much easier—if you’re ever in Toronto you should definitely pull up to their physical location.
The socks come in a variety of styles, funky colors and details, but most importantly, they are constructed so well that I still have multiple pairs that I’ve worn for years from Kapital that look pretty much brand new.
I NEED THESE IMMEDIATELY
You may have noticed me plugging PANE in past newsletters. They are a Chinese based footwear brand that that has a lot of great military inspired trainers. I’ve been lucky enough to get in contact with them to try and see if they are actually made well, and the answer is yes.
